To ask this question is to invite immediate controversy. Are we talking about a trade like any other or the downright exploitation of women? Is prostitution a mean to provide income or rather an expression of violence against women? Is it freely chosen or imposed? This article sets out some definitions of prostitution and identifies some reasons of prostitution.
